Medicine bottles, this time more specific (actual vintage bottle of laudanum)

Titanic (technically Edwardian, I think)... I can't stop thinking of this dress from the character Rose's first scene. I think I want to incorperate that shade of purple along with stripes.

Poppies ... delicate, papery... it will be a challenge to subdue that bright orange/red into a more neutral "Victorian" tone

Various Victorian medical supplies

Victorian Ad samples I liked

I particularly like the diagonal, centered title on the right poster.

I'm pretty sure I want to do a patterned background with a center body element like this one.

This is actually a modern poster made to look vintage. I find the emphasis of the capital letters on 'Cider Mill' very appealing.

Project #1: Victorian Theme

The first assignment is to create a design that draws influence form the Victorian era. We have to narrow down our style to the British, American or French Victorian. The Victorian era makes me think initially of women dressed from their earlobes down in layers of lace and ribbon in rich maroons and greys. Women who likely benefitted from child labor and medicated themselves with opium. Wait... THAT'S IT! I'll make a laudanum ad! It provides a macabre template I know I will be pleased to work upon :D
